The heart of God is to pursue those who are lost, hurting, and struggling.
A few hours after Peter denied Christ, Jesus was crucified. To Peter, it seemed all was lost. He had abandoned Jesus when it counted most, and now the Lord was gone. Hope was lost.
But, of course, Jesus’ story wasn’t over, and neither was Peter’s. Our God is the God of second chances. Because of the resurrection, He doesn’t turn away anyone who comes to Him truly and deeply repentant.
When an angel spoke to the women who came to Jesus’ tomb on Easter morning, he said to them, “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter, . . .” (Mark 16:6-7). Did you catch that?
It’s just two words—and Peter—but those two simple words give us all great hope. They are the application of the Gospel. Though Peter’s sin was great, Jesus’ compassion was greater. Peter wasn’t met with words of condemnation, but words of affection and encouragement. He was met with a second chance.
This Easter, join us to learn Peter’s story of forgiveness and redemption. The same forgiveness and redemption that is available to us today.
THE GOOD NEWS OF JESUS REALLY IS FOR EVERYONE EVERYWHERE.
But sometimes our failures, doubts, and insecurities get in the way of us receiving that good news for ourselves.
This Easter, join us to celebrate the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We’ll learn from God’s Word, worship together, and enjoy free coffee and delicious homemade snacks. We’ll also have a great morning planned for our Cornerstone Kids from birth through 5th grade.
We have two identical services at 9:15am and 11:00am. Each service will last a little over an hour. We invite you to click the link below to plan your visit. We’ll save you a spot! And if you have kids, it will save you time when you arrive to check them in.
