Our story began in June of 2004 when a group of believers decided to get together for fellowship and worship at Up to Par Sports Center in Galax. At that time, several of the men within the group met weekly to seek God’s will for the future of this fellowship. They believed that God was, in fact, leading us to unite as a church body and on September 12, 2004 we officially adopted the name Cornerstone Community Church. Over the next few years we continued to grow and we held our worship service at various schools in the Galax area.
In July of 2007, Mike Morris came on board as a pastor and elder for Cornerstone. Then in early 2008, the old A & Z Building in downtown Galax became available and we decided to renovate and make it our home. Our church is growing and we are excited about the lives that have been changed. We have a Holy anticipation for what God is going to do over the next few years of ministry.
We also own 18 acres of land at the intersection of Timberline Drive and Cranberry Road in Galax that we would like to use for future growth. We envision using this property to expand the ministry of Cornerstone and reach out to the community so that the light and love of Jesus Christ may be clearly and brightly seen.
The following video from our membership class explains more about our story and our history.
