Christmas at Cornerstone – 2021

Christmas at Cornerstone – 2021

Christmas is a special time of year at Cornerstone. We have numerous ways for you to both worship and serve as we celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Here is a listing of all our Christmas activities. We invite you to join us!

Our Christmas sermon Series

Join us on December 5th as we start a new sermon series leading up to Christmas. As we learn from the Christmas stories in Matthew and Luke, we can miss out on the real meaning of Christmas. Whether it is distraction, selfishness, disappointment, there are many things that can keep up from being transformed by Jesus’ birth.

  • December 5th – Dealing with Distraction
  • December 12th – Avoiding Pride and Selfishness
  • December 19th – Overcoming Disappointment – This will be our main Christmas service at Cornerstone and our Cornerstone Kids will join us for the service at both our 9:15 and 11:00am services.

On December 26th, we plan on having a single service at 11:00am, and we will be sharing a special message looking back on 2021, and looking forward to 2022.

The Miracle of Jesus Christmas Event

Join us on December 10th for our 1 hour interactive Christmas event. Families are “transported” back in time to Bethlehem to celebrate the birth of Jesus. As they travel through the Bethlehem Marketplace, they’ll share in authentic, multisensory experiences and discover the miraculous impact of Jesus’ birth—and life! This event is geared for ages 0-4th grade but ALL families are welcome! At the end of this event, you will enjoy a delicious meal with your family. This Christmas event will take place in our Center 2:42 building.Time slots will be 6:00-7:15, 7:15-8:15 and 8:15-9:15.

Christmas Eve Communion Service

Cornerstone will be open on Christmas Eve from 6-8pm for your family to come and share communion together. We will have interactive stations set up to walk through the life of Christ. You can stop in at any time and go through the stations at your own pace. An elder will be present at the church the entire time if you need any help. This year, we will use Center 2:42 for this service.

Angel tree gifts

Cornerstone is partnering with our school and community leaders to provide gifts to local children. Help make a difference by picking up a card with a child’s name on it at the Information Desk beginning this Sunday, December 5th, purchasing the gifts, and returning them back to the church by Sunday, Dec 19th. This is a great way to connect with families in our area and show them the love of Jesus this holiday season. Please contact the church office if you have any questions.

Our Cornerstone Christmas Offering

We are excited about our 2021 Offering! Each year, those who attend Cornerstone Community Church have made it our mission to honor the gift God gave us in the birth of Jesus by beginning our gift-giving at Christmas with a gift to Him. This simple idea has become what is known as our annual Christmas Offering. In the past, we have used this offering to support local ministries, to help us purchase our building, and to establish our Engage Fund which we use for missions throughout the year.

Since 2011, we have collected almost $200,000 through our Christmas Offering!!!! Our normal missions giving as part of our budget has been over $300,000 in that same time period. That’s half a million dollars that Cornerstone has used in our community. Cornerstone is a generous church that believes in giving back and making a difference in our community.

Our focus this year is on our Engage Fund – So let me share some of our plans

For 2022 – our goal is to take the message of the Gospel out into our community.

  • We want to expand community events and do block parties and events in different neighborhoods. We will have fun and games, and provide meals to different communities.
  • We want to support special projects and needs of local ministries who are doing a great job reaching people .
  • We want to expand our involvment in the skate park ministry.
  • And we want to be able to respond to needs as we have them.

We’ll be sharing more at church each week about this offering.

We invite you to give above and beyond your typical tithe to support this year’s Christmas Offering. You can give in-person, give online, or by sending a check to Cornerstone at PO Box 757, Galax, VA 24333. Be sure to choose the Christmas Offering fund online, or to designate on you check using the memo field.
