There is nothing wrong with wanting to live a long life, but death isn’t something we dread. Death was defeated two thousand years ago. And to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. So death is something we can actually anticipate because it’s not the end. It’s a new beginning. And many of the miracles we hoped for on earth will finally be fulfilled in heaven.
When Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, he was not just foreshadowing His own resurrection, he was foreshadowing ours. It’s not just something Jesus did for Lazarus. It’s a snapshot of what Jesus wants to do in your life right here, right now.
- He’s calling you out of sin.
- He’s calling you out of death.
- He’s calling you out of your tomb.
