Cornerstone Discipleship Series

Our mission at Cornerstone is to make disciples of Jesus who transform their world. We are launching a new series of classes to help you get connected and grow in your faith.

Offered Online and In-Person

Are you new at Cornerstone? Do you want to learn more about our church? Do you want to get connected and learn how to get involved? Are you ready to join our Cornerstone family? If so, then we invite you to join us for our Discover Cornerstone class. Through this class, you will learn more about the vision and mission of Cornerstone, and we will share opportunities for getting involved and connected at Cornerstone. We will let you know about serving opportunities, upcoming LifeGroups, and our membership process. Come join us and discover your next step at Cornerstone.

On-Demand Online Option

After registering online, you will be sent a link to our online class with instructions. You will watch videos and have an opportunity to ask any questions. We will also follow up with you to help you get connected and plugged in at Cornerstone through our various LifeGroups and service opportunities.

In Person Option

Classes on Sundays: June 4th, July 30th, September 24th, and November 26th

Every other month, we will meet at Center 2:42 during the second service. We invite you to attend our 9:15am service and then join us for the Discover class and lunch. Please preregister to let us know if you can attend. It’s also your chance to ask questions and meet our leadership team. We will have pizza and drinks, and childcare will be provided if needed.

The first step in entering a relationship with God is to declare “I believe” – a proclamation of both trust and faith. But what comes next? This on-demand online class is dedicated to answering that question and helping Christians experience the full richness of a life led by God. If you recently said “I believe”, this class will provide a roadmap for where you’re headed. If it’s been ages since you said “I believe”, this class will reorient you toward a Christ-filled life. Once you enroll, you will be sent a link with instructions to start this online class, taught by Pastor Mike Morris.

launching June 2023, Classes on Wednesday: June 7th, July 5th, August 2nd, and September 6th

This hybrid class will run through the summer and offer a mix of in-person meetings with video content to watch on your own. The word theology comes from the Greek words theos and logos and literally means “words about God.” In other words, talking about God.

But when most people hear the term “theology” they think of it as something set aside for pastors who are attending seminary. But at its heart, theology has to do with the answers Christians give to questions people have about God and all things related to God. It’s attempting to speak Christianly about the great issues of life; it’s about having a biblical worldview; it’s about forming a Christian mind.

The theology videos are taught by Pastor and former seminary president James Emery White from Mecklenburg Community Church in Charlotte. He takes his seminary-level course on systematic theology and breaks it down in a way that anyone can understand. In his words, “Let’s pretend it’s just you and me, sitting down together talking about theology.” We will meet in-person to discuss the videos and answer questions each month.

launching September 2023

Discover Leadership – launching September 2023 – If leadership is influence, then we all need to learn how to use our influence to effectively reach and disciple others. The Discover Leadership course at Cornerstone is structured over one semester from September through early December. It includes a  kickoff meeting, monthly in-person meetings, and an assigned reading of one book per month. The focus will be on learning how to live your life as a disciple of Jesus. We will also utilize a private Facebook group for daily updates about the reading and for discussion. Depending on how many people sign up, we will also split up into smaller cohorts for men and women to encourage and meet throughout the semester. The monthly meetings will include a nice meal. We will either meet in the community room at Cornerstone or Mike’s house. This is an intensive study in a mentoring environment and will require both reading and discussion.
