Cornerstone Update

Cornerstone Update

The Cornerstone Elders met on Wednesday night to come up with a plan for the next few weeks. Based on the current guidance from the President, the Governor of Virginia, and the CDC, we have decided to move our services and group meetings online.

Our Sunday Service

This week, we will be moving to one single online service at 10 am on Facebook. We will have our praise team lead worship and Mike will be sharing the message. Unfortunately, due to limiting the number of people at church, we will not be allowing others to come and watch live in person. As always, the video will remain on Facebook for viewing later in the week, and we will also add the sermon to our website. WE DO NEED YOUR HELP! Please comment and share our video to ensure that everyone can join in and watch.

Our LifeGroups

Our LifeGroups will also be moving to an online format. We will be working with our LifeGroup leaders to determine the best way to connect their groups online. Through a combination of private Facebook groups and Zoom video conferencing, we hope to keep everyone connected.

Our New Facebook Group for our Cornerstone Family

Check out our Connect at Cornerstone Group on Facebook. Go ahead and request to join the group and start posting. The purpose of this group is to build an online community where Cornerstone members and friends can connect and grow together. This Facebook community provides opportunities to meet others and grow in our relationships with God together.  We are excited about launching this group. It will be a great place to discuss the sermon, to share ideas about how to minister to our community, and just connect throughout the week. This will be a private online community for our church. We are looking forward to seeing how this can be used!

Our New Podcast

For the last few months, we have been thinking about starting a midweek podcast to discuss the sermon, and to share updates from the leadership of Cornerstone. Because of the new challenges we are facing, we have decided to move forward with our plans and start the podcast this week. Expect each episode to last around 10 to 20 minutes, and we will have different people join in each week to help. We will record both audio and video, and over the next few days, we will be sharing the audio podcast with the different podcast services.

The first episode will be recorded and released this Thursday. It will be shared on our website and on our Facebook Page

In Closing

We know that change is never easy, but we believe that the church can thrive even in adverse circumstances. Please know that our ministry will continue and we are looking for ways to reach our community. If you have never utilized online giving, now is your chance. You can give online through our website, through the tithely mobile app, or by mailing a check to Cornerstone, PO Box 757, Galax, VA 24333.

We shared this on Facebook yesterday:

As a church, God has uniquely placed us in the community and prepared us for such a time as this. The church is not defined by four walls of a building. We are the church, and we are called to reach our community with the life-changing message of hope in Jesus Christ!
