Moto-Mission Supplies (Nicaragua Trip)

At the end of this month our Connections Leader, Larry VanHoose, will be traveling to Nicaragua for two-weeks. What will be unique for this trip is that he will be traveling alone, but then meeting up with five men from a church in Bedford, VA, to take enduro-type motorcycles (dirt bikes) up into the remote, mountainous regions of northwest Nicaragua. The dirt bikes will allow them to visit villages that cars and trucks cannot access. This once-a-year trip used to be made on foot, but now by using motorcycles the group is able to reach many more villages.

Thanks to the generosity of Cornerstone via the Engage Fund, and Larry’s friends and family, the trip is nearly fully-funded. However, additional items that help in attracting the villagers (especially the children) are very small toys and activities that we can use as tools to make connection and then present the Gospel. Unlike past trips though, the items that Larry can take must be very small as he will be transporting all of these items in a backpack on his person on the motorcycle. This is in addition to his hammock (they’ll be sleeping in the villages at night), food, clothing, and other personal needs (there are no support vehicles!).

With that in mind, if you’d like to donate towards the purchase of the items needed, you can turn in your donation at the church on or before Sunday, January 22, 2020, give online with your mobile device using the tithe.ly app, or on our giving page at https://mycornerstone.org/online-giving/   Either way, be sure to indicate in the Memo line of your check or in the “To” field of the online site that this monetary gift is for Mission Trip Support.  Thank you for your continued support as we are obedient to the scriptures that call us to “… go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19).
