Over the past several years, occasionally we have offered church-wide studies to get everyone studying and talking about the same topic. We have seen higher LifeGroup participation during these church-wide studies, and some of our most memorable sermons and groups have been during these times.
The elders have been looking at different options and discussing topics for studies this fall. We have chosen a study called Freeway: A Not So Perfect Guide to Freedom.
As in the past, we aren’t requiring our small groups to participate, but we are asking that you prayerfully consider taking part in this study. It will be an 8-week study and we are hoping to launch the week after Labor Day. We also are also hoping for many more groups to participate than have over the last few LifeGroup semesters. The groups can be large or small, but we want to help everyone get connected at Cornerstone.
This promises to be a great study centered around the message of grace. Here is a short overview that you can watch:
Noted Christian author Mark Batterson shares that “Freeway helps us work through the difficult parts of our story so we can truly embrace God’s purpose for our life. It is remarkable in how it is helping people find real freedom through the power of grace.”
How it Works
Each participant in a LifeGroup will need to purchase a workbook. The church will help subsidize these so that everyone can participate. The reduced cost will be only $5 per person for the workbook. These are highly interactive, but not too time-consuming. They will help each person prepare for the group each week and work through the topics at their own speed. You can click here to view a sample of the workbook so that you can see how it works. (Note: the church has already purchased a large quantity of these workbooks and you will be able to get yours at the Cornerstone Resource Counter in the coming weeks; there is no need to buy your online as they would be sold at a higher price elsewhere.)
During each LifeGroup session, the group leader will share a video and then lead discussion.
Here are the key topics and questions that will be answered during the study
- “Unleash Confidence And Overcome The Lie Of Feeling Like You’re Not Enough.”
- “Grow In Your Godly Identity And Understanding Of Who You Really Are.”
- “Help Rescue Your Story And Find Hope In Tough Times.”
- “Quiet Your Stressed Out Life And Connect Deeply With God.”
- “Build Thriving Friendships Through Honest Conversations.”
- “Overcome Perfectionism, People Pleasing And Learn To Be OK With Being OK.”
What Do I Need to Do?
If you are interested in leading a group this semester, please let Mike Morris ([email protected]) or Larry Van Hoose ([email protected]) know ASAP. Over the next few weeks we will be finalizing the groups and giving everyone a chance to signup. We are trusting God to do amazing things as we find our freedom in Christ.
