Camp Healing Hearts

Twin County Hospice to Host Camp Healing Hearts
for Grieving Children & Adolescents

Twin County Hospice of Twin County Regional Healthcare (TCRH) will host their annual Camp Healing Hearts. This day camp offers support to area children and adolescents that have experienced the death of a loved one. This year’s theme is “Hope is an Anchor for the Soul”. Camp Healing Hearts will be held at Camp Dickenson in Fries, Virginia on Saturday, August 22, 2015 from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm.

Camp Healing Hearts is coordinated by Twin County Hospice. This camp has been specially developed for children and adolescents, Grades K through 12, who have suffered the death of a loved one. Through fun activities, creative expression and education, campers learn that their feelings and emotions are normal, that what has happened to them has happened to others and that they can move forward while remembering their loved one.

Camp is staffed with social workers, nurses, a chaplain and volunteers from Twin County Hospice. Combined, these dedicated individuals form a skilled team that is able to address the special needs of grieving children and adolescents.

Referrals are encouraged from local agencies, parents and significant others who recognize the child’s or adolescent’s special pain of losing someone they love. Camp Healing Hearts is free of charge to participants through the support of the Twin County Community Foundation.

If you are interested in attending Camp Healing Hearts, making a referral, obtaining more information or registering, please contact Twin County Hospice at (276) 236-0973.
