Water Sunday and our Water Walk

Water Sunday and our Water Walk

Water Sunday is this week. Please bring back your water bottles that have been collecting money for Water Missions International.

The teens at Cornerstone have had a burden for this ministry and want to thank you for your donations and prayers for the millions of people that do not have access to clean water.  100% of the money that has been raised will go to Water Missions International in their response to the global water crisis.

Plan to join us for our Walk for Water. This is for everyone so bring your family, friends and neighbors! Every day millions of women and children in developing countries walk nearly 4 miles to retrieve water to meet their family’s daily needs. In most cases, even after all that effort, the water they have access to is unsafe and contaminated. Cornerstone’s Walk for Water will mimic that trek, as we carry buckets of water along the walk route and also bring increased awareness of the global water crisis to our families, church and community.

To join us on the walk meet at Cornerstone at 3pm on Sunday afternoon (March 25th).  This is an awareness and prayer walk and no registration or fund raising is required. We will walk as a group from Cornerstone to the New River Trail and collect water from Chestnut Creek and carry it back to Cornerstone.  Please bring gallon containers and buckets ( you might want smaller ones for smaller kids.) This is for the whole family, so wear your walking shoes and bring your buckets and strollers. If you want to wear a blue shirt that will help in identifying our group. Hope to see you there!

Still trying to decide if this is a good way to spend your Sunday afternoon?
Check out this quote from a mom of 3  about a local Walk for Water she and her family participated in

“Walking all that distance really gave me time to think about how fortunate we are. I don’t think I have ever really worried about whether I could get something as simple as water. This event really opened my eyes, and I am so glad my family participated. I wish every family could take time to experience walking for water.”

Please check the Cornerstone website in case of inclement weather.
